Dear CUFC Families,
Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic, the Alberta Soccer Association, yesterday, advised all member districts advised all member districts not to plan for a traditional Outdoor 2020 season. Also, Friday April 24th, the City of Calgary, also announced that they have cancelled permits for third-party events that were set to be held on City land (ie. soccer field permits) through to August 31 2020.
What this means for your Outdoor 2020 soccer season:
Unfortunately CUFC will not be able to run any of our Club Rec, Competitive or Adult Programs for summer 2020. To this end, CUFC will begin processing refunds for all player fees that have been paid to date for the Outdoor 2020 season, including jersey orders. All subsequent instalment payments will be cancelled and deleted so that further credit card charges are not incurred by our members.
Due to the financial constraints that CUFC is now under, refunds will have to be issued in stages and reimbursed by cheque payments. Additional credit card charges that we incur for mass refund transactions will prohibit us from refunding fees back onto credit cards and additional bank charges for high monthly transactions will mean that we will be refunding our members as follows:
Club & District Rec Programs
Issued May 1st 2020 by mailed cheque.
CMSA Program (U9-U19)
Issued June 1st 2020 by mailed cheque.
Adult CWSA & CUSA Programs
Issued July 1st 2020 by mailed cheque.
The above is not in any way ideal but we ask our valued members to be patient while we undertake this huge task to ensure that every member receives a full refund while ensuring the continued operation of the organization.
ANY MEMBER THAT WISHES TO LEAVE THEIR FEES IN THEIR CLUB ACCOUNT UNTIL INDOOR 2020/21 ARE VERY WELCOME TO DO SO. THESE FUNDS WILL BE PLACED IN A SECURE ACCOUNT AND WILL BE AVAILABLE TO ACCESS FOR ANY FUTURE CUFC PROGRAM OR CAN BE FULLY REFUNDED AT A LATER DATE.
FRIDAY 1ST MAY 2020 AT 12:00PM (NOON).
The Challenger Sports summer camp and Chestermere Speed School fitness camp scheduled for July 2020, are also to be cancelled. Please contact those organizations directly to discuss their refund policy.
What this means for CUFC:
It is with deep sadness that we have to announce that Chestermere United FC will be suspending all normal operations until the Fall of 2020, when we hope that a meaningful Indoor soccer season will take place. This decision has been taken with extreme difficulty by the CUFC Board of Directors and has resulted in the three staff members having their current contracts terminated.
The Board of Directors have given their sincere thanks to all the CUFC staff for their hard work, loyalty and dedication in the past and through this current difficult situation.
We hope that all our soccer families stay safe and as soon as we receive approval to get back to playing the beautiful game, we will be ready and able to get the players back on the field as soon as possible.
As a reminder, due to the closure of the Chestermere Recreation Centre, the CUFC Office remains closed to the public. The office email and phone line will be continually monitored and answered in a timely manner. CUFC WILL remain contactable throughout the summer months and the Club will be ready to resume operations as soon as permitted.
We sincerely wish that all our families stay safe and we look forward to see us all back on the field in Fall 2020.
