Coaching Courses

Our goal Chestermere United FC is to have every coach take the proper training for the age group(s) he or she is working with. Together with our own coach development program and training sessions, we strive give our players the best coaching experience.
 

NCCP Courses

NCCP FUNdamentals (formerly CHILD) 

This Community Coach course is tailored to coaches working with players in the 6 to 10 year old range.
The content of this course is based around the Active Start and FUNdamentals of mini-soccer and touches on the following areas: stages of development, basic practice planning, the role of the coach, ethics, safety and liability, review of mini-soccer rules, basic skill development and ample amounts of sample practice sessions.

This course meets the NCCP standards for the soccer technical and practical components. Participants will not be permitted to leave the course to coach or play in the games. It is suggested that participants make arrangements to have their teams looked after by an assistant coach.
Pre-requisite: enthusiastic individuals and lots of participation.
Course Length: 8 hours.
 

NCCP Learning To Train (formerly YOUTH)

This Community Coach course is tailored to coaches working with players in the 11 to 14 year old range.
The content of this course is based around coaching players at the recreational youth level of soccer and touches on the following areas: stages of development, conducting and planning training sessions, the role of the coach, ethics, safety and liability, team development, technical skill development and information on coaching youth players.

This course meets the NCCP standards for the soccer technical and practical components. Participants will not be permitted to leave the course to coach or play in the games. It is suggested that participants make arrangements to have their teams looked after by an assistant coach.
Pre-requisite: Active Start/FUNdamentals course is strongly recommended, but not mandatory.
Course Length: 16 hours (usually organized over a 2 day period).
 

NCCP Active For Life (Formerly SENIOR)

This Community Coach course is tailored to coaches working with players in the 14 to 18 year old range and beyond.
The content of this course is geared towards coaching at a more competitive level of youth soccer and touches on the following areas: stages of development, advanced technical skill development, aspects of coaching, coaching team play (systems/tactics), set plays, coaching the goalkeeper, attacking and defending principles, fitness, physical preparation (warm-up and cool-down), first-aid, ethics, and safety and liability.

This course meets the NCCP standards for the soccer technical and practical components.   Participants will not be permitted to leave the course to coach or play in the games. It is suggested that participants make arrangements to have their teams looked after by an assistant coach.
Pre-requisite: Active Start/FUNdamentals and Learning To Train are strongly recommended, but not mandatory; participants must be at least 16 years old.
Course Length: 16 hours (usually organized over a 2 day period).
 

NCCP Making Ethical Decisions (Online e-Learning)

The Coaches Association of Canada offers an online Making Ethical Decisions Course. With the roll out of the Long Term Player Development Coaching Model - this course will be required for all levels of certification.

CSA Licensing Stream

The Licensing Stream is a traditional vertical pathway designed for the aspiring coach able to achieve higher performance standards.

  • Candidates must be 16 years of age.
  • For serious coaches.
  • Preference given to coaches who can demonstrate a background in the game and/or working at Tier 1 and 2 levels or higher.
  • Open entry into the Licensing Stream through the Provincial C-License Program.
  • Alberta Soccer is responsible for the delivery of the entry level provincial awards - the C-License and Provincial B-License programs.
  • Canada Soccer is responsible for the delivery of the national award - the National B-License and the A-license.
